Who we are

The Bendigo Islamic Association was established in 1991 by a small group of Muslim families who called Bendigo home and sought a place for prayer, community, and belonging. Over time, our membership has grown alongside Bendigo’s increasingly diverse population.

After many years of advocacy and perseverance, planning for the Bendigo Mosque was approved — marking a turning point in our city’s story. What began as a moment of challenge and misunderstanding has transformed into a symbol of unity, resilience, and hope.

Today, the mosque is in the final stages of construction, with work continuing to complete its community facilities, disability access, and landscaped grounds. Once finished, it will stand as a beacon of peace and inclusion — a place where people of all backgrounds can come together to learn, reflect and connect.
